So, Mei Ling is an interesting piece from 2009. It's got this unique animation style that somehow captures the loneliness of its main character, a young woman just waiting around for some sort of connection. The pacing is pretty slow, but it works to emphasize her solitude and the growing bond with this little octopus she finds in her sink. It’s almost surreal, like a quiet meditation on companionship and the absurdity of life. The octopus, as it grows, becomes a sort of metaphor for her own stagnation and desire for change. The lack of a known director adds a layer of mystery to it all, making it feel like an indie gem that slipped under the radar. Definitely has a distinctive vibe.
Interesting animation style worth noting.Themes of loneliness and companionship.Pacing may not suit everyone.
