Mendam Berahi is quite an interesting piece from 2002. It’s set against the backdrop of the treacherous Sulu Sea, where a Malaysian government agency, led by the enigmatic Madame X, seeks a sunken treasure. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times, but that adds to its charm. The action sequences are fairly decent, with practical effects giving it a gritty feel, which is refreshing. You have three agents who are not just eye candy but have their own grit, which adds depth. The villain, Datuk Azmi, brings an old-school charm to the conflict. It's not the most polished film, but there's something about its atmosphere that keeps you engaged. It's a blend of adventure and intrigue that doesn't shy away from its B-movie roots.
