Merryweather Fox and the Baron of Burrow's Bend has this charmingly quaint feel, doesn’t it? The animation is quite lovely, with a hand-drawn aesthetic that gives it a bit of an old-school vibe, which I appreciate. The pacing is interesting; it takes its time to develop the characters, especially the young mouse and her reluctant detective partner. The themes of family and determination run deep here. Not to mention the voice performances—they really bring the characters to life with a certain warmth. There’s something distinctly cozy about the whole experience, despite the underlying tension of the missing father plot. It’s a film that feels like a gentle nod to classic detective tales, wrapped in an enchanting world of woodland creatures.
