Milk and Fashion is a quiet exploration of personal growth and familial bonds, really. You’ve got this young guy, Tyler, who’s pretty much lost at sea, moving from rural Yunnan to the fast-paced world of Shanghai. His uncle Jack, who’s juggling his own profession and this newfound responsibility, becomes a sort of reluctant mentor. The film does a nice job capturing the stark contrast between Tyler’s old life and the urban chaos around him. The pacing feels deliberate, letting you soak in the moments of vulnerability and hope. The performances have this raw authenticity, especially from the leads, and the cinematography subtly emphasizes the vastness of the city compared to Tyler's humble beginnings. It’s a character study wrapped in the fabric of life’s challenges.
