Monster Ark, directed by Declan O'Brien, is one of those films that straddles the line between fantasy and horror quite interestingly. The journey of archaeologist Nicholas Zavaterro and his student as they chase after Noah's Ark is filled with a mix of adventure and tension. The pacing has its moments where it drags, but the atmosphere really picks up once they encounter Tama, the creature that adds a layer of unpredictability. I found the practical effects to be a real highlight here; they give it a sort of old-school vibe that works well with the storyline. The performances are solid enough, though they don't always shine through the monster mayhem. Still, there's something distinctly entertaining about this blend of legends and monsters.
Interesting take on biblical legends.Decent practical effects for a TV movie. Not your typical monster film.
