Moonlight Sonata is quite the peculiar blend of genres. It’s this raw exploration of mental anguish and physical decay, you know? Sean Grey's character is steeped in a palpable sense of isolation, worsened by this infection that seems almost metaphorical for his emotional state. The pacing is deliberately slow, allowing the atmosphere to thicken—almost suffocating at times—as other students start to succumb to illness. The practical effects used for the sickness are surprisingly effective, heightening the horror elements without losing the documentary feel. Performances are a bit uneven, but they add an authenticity to the chaotic emotions at play. There's definitely a unique voice here, even if it feels a bit lost in its ambitions.
