This 2011 staging of Mozart's 'Die Entführung aus dem Serail' at the Gran Teatre del Liceu is a real treat for opera lovers. The atmosphere is carefully crafted by director Christophe Loy, who gives it a fresh twist while respecting the original material. The pacing is brisk, keeping the audience engaged without losing the essence of the dramatic tension. Diana Damrau’s Constance is a standout; her coloratura work is simply exquisite. And then there's Olga Peretyatko as Blonda, whose rising star status is well-deserved here. The set design and practical effects, though minimalistic, add a certain depth that complements the performances beautifully. It's a nuanced take that feels both classic and new at the same time.
