Mr. Burton captures a gritty slice of life in wartime Wales. The film’s atmosphere is somber yet subtly hopeful, with Richard Jenkins giving a raw performance that feels very real. The pacing is deliberate, allowing you to really soak in the weight of his struggles. It's interesting how the backdrop of a small town grappling with the war really amplifies the character dynamics. The practical effects are pretty understated, but they do a nice job of grounding the story. Marc Evans seems to have a knack for highlighting the complexities of youth and ambition, making you reflect on how far you’d go to chase a dream, especially in challenging times.
