Murder 101: College Can be Murder has this intriguing blend of crime and drama, laced with a mystery that keeps you guessing. Dr. Jonathan Maxwell, the criminology professor, is pretty compelling in his skepticism about his colleague's supposed heart attack. The dynamic between him and Mike Parker adds a nice touch, like a buddy cop vibe in an academic setting. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times, especially in the first act, but the atmosphere builds well as they uncover secrets and enemies lurking beneath the surface. The performances are solid; you can sense the tension and intrigue. It's one of those films that doesn't rely heavily on flashy effects, but rather on the unfolding narrative and character interactions, which is refreshing, if not a little cozy for a mystery.
