Murder on D Street is one of those low-key mystery films that really draws you in with its moody atmosphere. The story revolves around a soba restaurant owner’s mysterious death, and while the police quickly label it a suicide, detective Akechi Kogoro and his wife Fumiyo sense something off. As they dig deeper, the film reveals a labyrinth of twisted relationships fueled by desire and resentment. The pacing is deliberate, allowing the tension to build slowly, which I found quite effective. Performances are decent, especially from the leads, who bring a palpable sense of urgency to their investigation. The practical effects, though minimal, add a layer of realism that suits the cerebral tone of the story. It's not flashy, but there's something intriguing about its exploration of human emotion and motive.
