So, 'My Favorite Year' is this charming comedy-drama from 1982 that really captures the chaos of live television in the 1950s. You’ve got Benjy Stone, a young writer who’s just over the moon to have his idol, Alan Swann, on his show. But when Swann shows up, he's not the dashing hero Benjy imagined. Instead, he’s a mess—drunk, charmingly flawed, and kind of a letdown in the best way possible. The film has this great blend of humor and heart, with a pacing that keeps you engaged without any lulls. The performances are standout, especially Peter O'Toole as Swann; he really embodies that fallen star vibe. It's this nice exploration of how illusions can clash with reality, and it does it all with a light touch.
Features an excellent performance by Peter O'Toole.Captures the essence of live broadcast challenges.A delightful mix of comedy and heartfelt moments.
