So, 'My Grandpa' is this interesting blend of comedy and drama from 2003 that really dives into family dynamics in a unique way. It starts with Kenzo, a guy who just got out of prison for a serious crime, and you can feel that heavy atmosphere right from the get-go. The pacing is a bit off in parts, but it builds well as we see Kenzo trying to connect with his son and granddaughter, Tamako. Whatâs really striking is how Tamako deals with the fallout of Kenzo's past; it tackles themes of shame and acceptance. The performances feel genuine, especially from the younger cast, and there's a rawness to the story that's not often seen. Definitely not a typical family film.
Explores themes of family dynamics.Has a mix of humor and emotional depth.Features strong performances from the young cast.
