So, 'My Spy' from 2009 is an interesting blend of action, adventure, and comedy. The dynamic between AJ, played by AC Mizal, and Salleh, a retired cop, is pretty entertaining, despite their initial dislike for one another. You get this odd couple vibe, which really drives the narrative. The pacing has its moments—sometimes it zips along, other times it lingers a bit too long, but it somehow works in context. The themes of unlikely partnerships and overcoming personal biases are there, but presented in a light-hearted manner. Practical effects are sparse, but the performances keep things lively, especially the interactions with that corrupt figure, Datuk ‘O’ Osman. It’s quirky, and while it might not break new ground, it’s certainly distinct in its charm.
