My Trip with Che is a comedy that meanders through the awkwardness of growing up. The premise is pretty relatable—Ake, not quite the man his father wants him to be, gets nudged into visiting Uncle Che over the school break. The film's pacing is relaxed, allowing the characters to breathe and for the humor to unfold naturally. There’s an underlying charm in the dialogue, making the interactions feel genuine. The performances, especially from the leads, capture that awkward transition from adolescence to adulthood without ever feeling forced. It has this interesting lightness to it, juxtaposed with the more serious undertones of familial expectations and self-discovery. Not your typical coming-of-age flick, but it’s got its own unique vibe that stays with you.
