So, 'My Wife Is a Superstar' is this 2016 comedy-romance that really tries to tread the line between satire and romance but ends up feeling a bit hollow. The performances from both leads are surprisingly engaging, pushing them out of their usual roles, which is worth noting. There's a certain charm to the pacing, even if it sometimes drags a bit in the middle. The themes play with celebrity culture and the absurdity of fame, but it kind of holds back when it could’ve gone deeper. Shirley Yung, who’s been around the block, directs it, but it feels like she missed a chance to really dig into those ideas. Still, it's an interesting watch for those who appreciate a mix of humor and romance, albeit with some limitations.
