Neverdie Butterfly is an interesting blend of high school drama and emotional growth. You have Haneul, who's been the target of a delinquent's teasing for years, and then there's the twist when his old friend Myeongho re-enters his life. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times, but it captures the awkwardness and intensity of adolescence pretty well. The performances, especially from the leads, give off a raw authenticity that adds depth to the characters, making their experiences relatable. The film’s tone dances between light-hearted moments and heavier themes of friendship and resilience, which I think really stands out. There’s something almost nostalgic about it, capturing that transitional phase of life without getting overly sentimental.
