Nightmare Alley is a fascinating dive into the darker side of carnival life. I mean, it’s not just about the mind-reading act but really about ambition and manipulation. The way Goulding captures the atmosphere with those smoky shadows and stark lighting really pulls you in. The pacing is deliberately slow at times, allowing the tension to build, which might not be for everyone but totally fits the story's themes of deceit and desire. Tyrone Power’s performance is surprisingly layered; he portrays the ambitious roustabout with a mix of charm and desperation. Also, the practical effects in some of the carnival scenes are impressive for their time. Definitely a film that lingers with you long after the credits roll.
