Nika is an interesting watch, really. It’s about this 16-year-old girl, a go-kart driver, who has this intense relationship with her mother. The tension between them adds a lot of weight to the racing scenes. You see her struggle not just with the competition but also with her personal battles at home, which gives the film a nice emotional depth. The pacing is steady, allowing moments of reflection which balance out the adrenaline of the races. And while the performances might not be top-tier, there’s a certain charm in their authenticity. Plus, the practical effects during the racing scenes really stand out, capturing the thrill of the sport without over-relying on CGI. It’s a film that wears its heart on its sleeve, and that rawness makes it unique in its own way.
