Nineteen on Fire is this oddball comedy that really leans into the absurd. Beth, our protagonist, wakes up in a haze, missing her guitar and with a pounding headache. It’s like a hangover quest mixed with a quirky road movie vibe. The pacing bounces around, matching her frantic search and the eclectic cast she encounters. There’s a nice undercurrent of friendship and the lengths one goes for their passions, all set against a backdrop of chaotic energy. The performances have a rawness to them, which adds to the film's charm. Plus, the use of practical effects in some scenes gives it this grounded feel, which you don’t see often in modern comedies. It’s neither polished nor overly structured, which makes it distinctive in its own right.
