No Sad is an intriguing drama that unfolds in a subtle, contemplative way. You’ve got Lu Song, a guy who travels from China to Korea, in search of a brother-in-law he’s never met. The pacing is deliberate, allowing you to really soak in the emotions and the scenery. There's this wistful tone throughout, especially in Lu Song’s interactions with Kim, an old friend, which are layered with nostalgia and a hint of melancholy. Then comes Li Yan, his niece-in-law, who’s grappling with her own heartbreak. The fishing village backdrop adds a rich texture, enhancing the film's reflective mood, though I wish we could have explored more of the practical effects in those coastal scenes. The performances feel genuine, capturing a rawness that resonates well. It’s distinctive for its quiet exploration of loss and connection.
