Norbit is one of those comedies that's hard to pin down. It's got this odd mix of slapstick and heart, with Eddie Murphy doing triple duty—it's interesting seeing him pull off such a range. The pacing can be all over the place, swinging between wild antics and genuine moments of vulnerability. There's a real weirdness to the practical effects, especially with the transformation scenes that feel almost cartoonish but oddly charming. Plus, the supporting cast, including Thandie Newton, adds a nice dynamic. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it’s worth a look for the sheer audacity of its premise and Murphy's commitment to the roles. Definitely not a conventional rom-com.
