Nosferatu Maiden is quite the intriguing piece. It’s animated, which really sets it apart from other horror entries in 2017. The atmosphere is thick with dread, and the forest itself becomes a character—dark, twisted, really unsettling. The pacing is deliberate, allowing that creeping sense of fear to build up as the young boy gets lost. The animation style has this eerie charm to it, almost reminiscent of classic horror, and the portrayal of the Nosferatu vampires is both haunting and visually distinct. You can see a lot of thought went into the practical effects, which, surprisingly, meld beautifully with the animation. Overall, it’s a unique exploration of childhood fears and the unknown, making it memorable in its own right.
