Note to Self is a charming little comedy from 2012 that captures that awkward journey of self-discovery in high school. Curtis, the athlete with some charm, keeps a journal, and it’s interesting how the writing serves as both a plot device and thematic backbone. The pacing is quite leisurely, allowing you to soak in the feels as he navigates friendships and budding romance. Performances are decent, giving off that light-hearted vibe without going over the top. There's a nice balance between comedy and those reflective moments, which makes it stand out in the teen genre. Sure, the direction may be a bit underwhelming, but it has a warmth that resonates, even if the story feels familiar.
