O Inquilino is a unique blend of comedy and social commentary, with a biting sense of humor that feels very contemporary. The dynamic between César, played with a delightful mix of earnestness and frustration, and Emílio, the superintendent whose provocations push the plot, is something else. It explores the absurdities of urban living and the complexity of human relationships through sharp dialogue and situational comedy. The pacing seems a little off at times, as if it can’t quite decide how quickly to escalate the tension, but that adds to its charm. Jordana Beck's direction keeps the atmosphere lively, and the practical effects used in some of the building antics are surprisingly well done, giving it a grounded feel amidst the chaos.
