Oberto, the first opera by Verdi, has this early charm that’s really interesting to see. It's not polished like his later works, but you can feel the young composer grappling with the constraints of the time. The musical themes are there, hinting at the greatness he would later achieve. The pacing can feel a bit uneven, characteristic of early opera, but that just adds to the authenticity of the experience. The performances, though not as grand as what you'd find in more famous productions, carry a certain raw emotion. The atmosphere is intimate, almost like you’re peeking into the beginnings of Verdi’s journey. It’s fascinating to watch how he started and what he had to navigate.
