So, 'One Drift and We All Go Home' is quite the interesting blend of comedy, documentary, and drama. Set against the backdrop of Kenai, Alaska in the summer of '98, it captures this bizarre tension in the fishing industry. You’ve got these commercial fishermen sidelined by regulations, and meanwhile, the sportfishermen are out there having a grand time, totally unbothered. It’s almost surreal, really. The pacing feels a bit off-kilter at times, but that just adds to the documentary feel of it. The performances range from earnest to comically absurd, really painting the struggle of these workers in a unique light. The atmosphere is heavy with frustration, but there's a dry humor threaded throughout that keeps it from being too grim. It's a distinctive piece for sure.
