Oscuros Amores is a weird little gem, balancing dark comedy with some pretty heavy themes. You've got Ricki, who heads back to Cuba, only to find Beatriz isn't who he remembers. Then there's Claudia, hustling her way through a plan to scam a drug dealer, which is both tense and absurd. And let's not forget Celina, whose necrophiliac weekend with a corpse adds a layer of unsettling humor. The pacing feels offbeat, almost erratic at times, but it fits the quirky nature of the stories. The performances have this rawness; they really sell the absurdity of the situations. It's not your typical rom-com, that’s for sure. It’s distinctive for its willingness to explore the darker sides of love, with some really striking practical effects sprinkled in.
