Own Worst Enemy is an interesting mix of comedy, drama, and romance that plays with the time travel trope in a somewhat unconventional way. James Keaton, the protagonist, is kind of a hapless inventor who thinks he can fix his life by going back in time, only to have his plans upended by Leila, his girlfriend. There's something bittersweet about how she uses the time machine to reshape her past decisions. The pacing feels a bit off at times, but it captures a certain whimsical charm, especially in its practical effects which add a layer of authenticity. The performances are decent too, capturing a relatable sense of regret and yearning. It's a unique spin on time travel and relationship dynamics without leaning too heavily on clichés.
Unique exploration of time travel and relationships.Practical effects lend authenticity to the narrative.Pacing may feel uneven for some viewers.
