Paradiso, XXXI, 108 is a peculiar documentary that sets a haunting atmosphere right from the start. The sound design is deeply immersive, almost disorienting, as the roar of the plane overshadows everything else. The film explores themes of silence amidst chaos, which is pretty striking given the premise of a soundproof fireworks display. You really have to appreciate how it plays with the idea of noise versus silence. It’s experimental, with a pacing that feels contemplative, almost meditative at times, yet jarring when it shifts. The visuals are raw and unpolished, which suits the subject matter. It’s definitely a niche viewing experience, but if you’re into films that challenge conventional storytelling, this one’s an interesting dive.
