Passions is an interesting exploration of the clash between urban life and nature. Matteo Argento, played with a kind of quiet intensity, is a CFO who decides to ditch the corporate grind for a simpler life in the countryside with his wife Lydia. The film has this slow, contemplative pacing that really allows the viewer to soak in the atmosphere of their new surroundings. The cinematography captures both the beauty and the isolation of rural living. Themes of ecological awareness and personal transformation run throughout, but there’s a certain tension, almost a struggle within, as they navigate their choices. It’s not flashy, but there’s something quite profound about how they confront their past in such a contrasting setting.
