Pensées is this intriguing little gem from 2017 that kind of sneaks up on you. It follows three childhood friends who, in a burst of nostalgia, decide to buy a Western-style house together. But there's this catch—they have to look after Rikamaru, and that's where everything starts to unravel. The film does a great job of exploring themes of friendship and responsibility, while the pacing is slow, almost meditative, allowing the tension to build subtly. There's a raw, almost unpolished emotion to the performances that really draws you in, making you feel for these characters. The atmosphere is thick with a sense of foreboding, and you can feel the weight of their choices throughout the film.
