Pill Head Ed is an intriguing blend of drama and horror that really nails that unsettling atmosphere. The pacing is deliberate, giving you time to sink into the protagonist's mind, which is something I appreciate in indie horror. The way the film portrays schizophrenia through the lens of grief is raw and unsettling; it doesn't shy away from the darker aspects of mental health. The hallucinations, particularly the strange version of the best friend, are crafted with some neat practical effects that add to the off-kilter vibe. Performances are strong, especially the lead, who captures that fragile line between reality and delusion. It’s definitely not your typical teen horror flick—more a character study wrapped in a nightmarish scenario.
