So, Pin is this offbeat horror thriller from '88 directed by Sandor Stern, and it's pretty layered. The whole vibe revolves around Leon, this guy who's got a twisted relationship with a medical dummy named Pin. Like, he grows up with this thing, and after losing his parents, he drags it back home to live with his sister Ursula. You can feel the tension build slowly, which makes the inevitable breakdown all the more unsettling. The practical effects are surprisingly effective for its time, adding a rawness to the horror. The performances are, well, not exactly Oscar-worthy, but they fit the film's strange atmosphere perfectly. It's definitely distinctive in how it plays with themes of isolation and obsession without going overboard on the gore.
The film explores themes of obsession and familial trauma.Noted for its unique use of practical effects.Leon and Ursula's dynamic is quite chilling.
