Plague Town is one of those unsettling gems that doesn't shy away from its horror roots. Directed by David Gregory, it crafts an eerie atmosphere from the get-go, drawing you into this desolate Irish setting where you think you might just find some quaint charm. But nope, it's all about the mutants—bloodthirsty kids that are as creepy as they are relentless. There’s a rawness to the practical effects that I appreciate, really brings the terror home. The pacing has its moments, building tension through the family's confusion and dread. Performances feel authentic, and there’s something about the way they react to the horror that feels real, making it all the more unsettling. Definitely a unique spin on the horror of the unknown, and not your standard slasher fare.
Interesting take on mutants in horror.Strong atmospheric build-up.Practical effects add to the dread.
