Polar Opposites is an interesting blend of action and sci-fi that unfolds in a pretty unique way. The story revolves around David Terran, who’s this underappreciated scientist, and you kind of feel for him because he's been ridiculed for his theories on magnetic pole reversal. The pacing has its ups and downs, but the tension builds nicely as the disaster unfolds. The chemistry between David and his estranged lover adds some solid emotional weight, which is refreshing amidst the chaos. Practical effects are more prominent than you might expect for a TV movie, and some moments really capture that looming sense of dread. It’s not a perfect film, but it’s definitely got a vibe that sets it apart from typical disaster flicks.
