Popful Mail is an interesting piece from 1994, really more of a promotional video than a fully fleshed-out OVA. It’s got this quirky animation style that feels very much of its time—think bright colors and expressive characters. The pacing is brisk, probably to showcase the game’s charm and humor, but it leaves you wanting more, you know? The characters have a certain playful energy, and there’s a lightheartedness in the storytelling. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is refreshing. The charm of the original Nihon Falcom game shines through, but it's a shame they never expanded this into something bigger. Still, it's a neat artifact for collectors, capturing a moment in animation history that almost was.
