Porches. Being Alone is this raw, intimate documentary that really captures the essence of indie music life on the road. It’s not slick or overproduced, which I think works in its favor. You see these six young musicians, their bus breaking down and their spirits rising and falling as they travel from coast to coast. The pacing is a bit languid, but that gives it room to breathe, to let you soak in the moments they share with newfound friends who offer them shelter and meals. There’s an authenticity in their performances and interactions that feels genuine, like you’re right there with them. The film touches on themes of friendship, struggle, and what it means to pursue your passion, and it does so without any pretense.
