So, 'Powerful' is an interesting piece from 2018. It tackles some heavy themes around heroism and morality, which is a nice departure from the usual superhero fare. The atmosphere is pretty grim, reflecting the internal conflict of the characters. As Captain Powerful falls from grace, you really feel the weight of his actions on the younger generation, especially Marcus. The pacing is deliberate, allowing us to sit with the characters’ dilemmas rather than rush through them. Performances are solid, particularly from the boy, who carries a lot of emotional depth for such a young actor. Not a lot of flashy effects here – it’s more about the storytelling and the weight of the situation. It definitely leaves you pondering the nature of heroism.
Delivers a unique take on heroism.Strong performances, especially from the young lead.Focuses more on internal struggles than action.
