Primate is a messy, tense little horror flick that balances college antics with primal terror. Johannes Roberts dials up the atmosphere—the Hawaiian setting feels both vibrant and claustrophobic as the group’s vacation turns into a nightmare. The performances are solid, especially from the actors who have to navigate the chaos with a rabid chimp in the mix. It’s interesting how the film explores themes of nature versus nurture, and the practical effects are gritty enough to feel raw without leaning too much on CGI. Definitely has its moments of absurdity, but that just adds to the charm in a way. If you enjoy creature features with a unique twist, this one might be worth a look.
