So, Primer Día is this intriguing animated piece set in a dystopian future. You have these two Explorers wandering through an abandoned Mexico City, which is kind of hauntingly beautiful. They’re on this quest for forgotten treasures, but there's this underlying tension throughout. The remaining kids are stuck in this energy-drained state, which adds to the bleakness. There's this shapeless monster, Despair, lurking around, really heightening the atmosphere. The animation style is distinct, capturing the desolation and eeriness of the setting. It’s got a slow burn pacing, letting the weight of the world sink in, while exploring themes of memory and loss, which really resonates. Definitely not your typical animation.
