So 'Princess of Mars' is a curious blend of genres that really plays with that classic sci-fi vibe. You’ve got this US soldier, John Carter, suddenly dropped into this war-torn Martian landscape, and it's all based on Burroughs' novel. The pacing is a bit uneven at times, but it kind of adds to that sense of disorientation that fits the whole 'stranger in a strange land' theme. Visually, it’s interesting with those practical effects but you can tell they had a budget. The performances are decent, but the standout is definitely Lynn Collins as Dejah Thoris. There’s something about the mix of action and fantasy here that feels nostalgic, even if it doesn't hit every mark perfectly.
