Psalty's Salvation Celebration is an interesting piece from the early '90s family genre, blending music and a coming-of-age tale. The film navigates the tension between ambition and integrity through Shelly, a young girl facing her fears of public speaking. The atmosphere is very much rooted in that quaint, wholesome vibe of its time. Risky Rat, with his dubious charm, brings in that element of conflict, and his interactions with Shelly create a sort of whimsical tension. The pacing can feel a bit uneven, but the musical numbers are quite catchy, adding a vibrant layer. It's all about choices and moral dilemmas, which are presented in a surprisingly engaging way for a kids' flick.
