Pugni chiusi is one of those documentaries that really pulls you in. Set against the backdrop of Asinara prison, it chronicles a group of Vinyl workers who find themselves on a layoff, deciding to occupy this deserted island in protest. The atmosphere is heavy, filled with a sense of desperation but also a flicker of hope as these men fight for their livelihoods. The pacing is quite deliberate, allowing moments of reflection which give weight to their plight. The film captures the raw emotion of their struggle, and it’s fascinating how the isolation of the island becomes a character in itself, amplifying their voices in an often indifferent world. Definitely worth a watch for the themes of resilience and solidarity.
