Purgatory Flats is this gritty little gem that really captures the desperation of its lead, Sunny. The atmosphere is drenched in tension, and the small-town vibe gives it this claustrophobic feel. You can really sense her turmoil as she navigates her oppressive life and the lurking danger of her husband’s family. The pacing is a bit uneven, but it adds to the thrill; you never quite know when things will spiral out of control. The performances are raw, particularly from the lead, and there's a sense of realism in the dialogues that pulls you in. It's the kind of film that makes you think about the lengths one might go to for freedom, even if it means taking dark paths.
