Pushed Too Far is one of those gritty late '80s action flicks that doesn't flinch when it comes to its themes of vengeance and loss. Herb Johnson plays a martial arts teacher who’s all about peace until a former wrestler, played by a surprisingly intense Claude Akins, spirals into madness and takes away his wife. The film’s atmosphere is dark, almost claustrophobic at times, and it really leans into the emotional stakes. The pacing can feel a bit uneven, but the practical effects and fight choreography are solid for the era. Akins has a commanding presence, making the villain’s descent into chaos palpable. It’s the sort of movie where every punch carries weight, and you feel that loss and anger simmering just beneath the surface.
