Queenie and the All or Nothing Thin King is an intriguing short film that really plays with form and texture. You’ve got this fantastic mix of acrylic paint on cels, which gives it a wonderfully tactile quality. The use of stop motion puppetry combined with shadows adds depth to the story, creating an almost dreamlike atmosphere. There's this quirky charm in how the film embraces randomness, especially with those glittery 'random disco flakes' that bring a certain whimsy to the visuals. It’s a bit unconventional and feels very personal, stemming from its origins as a zine. The pacing is unique, meandering yet purposeful, allowing the viewer to soak in the layers of creativity. Not something you see every day, for sure.
