So, 'Quench' is quite the gritty take on the revenge genre. I mean, you’ve got Seol-gwi, who gets totally wrecked by this master swordsman after losing his master, which sets a heavy tone right from the start. The pacing feels deliberate, though, as he trains under this martial arts expert—totally brings you in as he hones his skills. The choreography is grounded, and they really lean on practical effects rather than flashy CGI, which gives it a raw, visceral quality. There's an interesting theme of perseverance and growth woven in as Seol-gwi evolves from defeat to seeking vengeance. It’s not your typical sword flick; it’s got weight and depth with a nice atmospheric score to boot.
