Quintal has this raw, almost chaotic energy that pulls you in. It’s an accidental remake of Rocha's Pátio, but it feels fresh, like it’s finding its own voice through a familiar lens. The pacing is deliberate, which allows you to really sit with the couple's isolation in that yard, you know? Their performances are understated yet powerful, capturing a sense of desperation and connection that’s pretty haunting. There are moments where the original mise-en-scène is echoed, but then it veers off into a completely new direction, which makes it distinctive. It’s one of those films that seems simple at first, but you end up peeling back layers as you think about it more.
