Rabies is a curious entry in the horror genre that's quite different from the usual fare. Set in a desolate nature reserve, it does a great job at creating an eerie atmosphere, with the feeling of isolation hanging heavily over every scene. The pacing is deliberate, letting the tension build before the inevitable clash with the psychopathic killer. The performances, especially from the leads, are raw and unrefined, which lends an unsettling authenticity to their plight. What stands out here are the practical effects—gritty and visceral. The intertwining fates of the brother and sister add layers to the story, making it more than just a slasher. It's messy, but that’s part of its charm, if you ask me.
