Rails & Ties is one of those quiet dramas that lingers with you. Directed by Alison Eastwood, it dives into the aftermath of a tragic train collision, and you can really feel the weight of loss throughout. The pacing is deliberate, allowing the characters' grief and connections to unfold naturally. The bond that forms between the train engineer, played with a somber intensity, and the young boy is both poignant and unexpected. There's a raw authenticity in their performances that feels very real, no over-the-top theatrics here. It's interesting how the film uses practical effects to ground the story, making it feel all the more visceral. Not a flashy film, but there's depth in its simplicity that sets it apart.
